As the youngest of 5, Mary Griffin was given the inspiration, love and support to excel in life. As a NCAA D1 freshman, her lacrosse season was cut short due to COVID, her parents lost their jobs & a tree fell on her brother’s car. Hopeful for a new start as a sophmore, her life got even more complicated when she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer while in isolation from COVID. She accessed the support of a former teammate also battling cancer, decided this hardship would give her an advantage & chose to embrace the imperfections of the year, which was “Not a 10.” Mary teaches us, “If you are a mess, you have a message.”
